I know one of my customers cut it out and plugged the base rail. Not really sure exactly what process he used to do that. I usually recommend most of my customers buy a $200 standard steel core door from Lowe's and tip their building installers to have that put up instead of the normal doors all the steel building manufacturers offer. Might not be a problem now, but in 20 years when you're getting up there in age you might not think about stepping over it.
